WA - 211

WA-211 has been one of CWUEVC's two entries into the Electrathon America racing circuit since 2007. It is a simple - yet beautifully engineered - design.

The batteries are a Lead-Acid composition.

The body is a pre-designed kit made available by Electrathon America. The vehicle has been made according to Electrathon America's specific design rules.

The Catmobile

"The [CATMOBILE] Electrathon Vehicle project is an ongoing project that dates back to 2012. This vehicle will be raced at events to see how many laps it can complete on a single battery charge. The existing body for the Central Washington University Electrathon vehicle required modifications to fit over the current frame. These modifications were required because the rear suspension design had changed.

The body is now compatible with the electric vehicle. It has 5 fixed mounting points using pins and hitch-clips. The windshield is held down using Velcro. The entire body with its mounting hardware weighs approximately 15 lbs."

"The design of the suspension had to fit within the constraints of the preexisting frame. The suspension was manufactured using the tools in the Central Washington University Machine Shop and Power Lab for under $140. The suspension weighs 9.6lbs per side and is made of steel.

The suspension is operational and is ready to undergo testing and eventually be ready to compete in the Electrathon America Race."

"A device is required that is able to turn a minimum of a 50 foot radius curb to curb​. We will be able to test this by using chalk on the ground in an open parking lot setting a 50 foot radius up and driving the vehicle in the 50 foot radius circle."

INNOVATORS IN THE FIELD

Electrathon America was first formed in California during the late 1980's as an Electric Vehicle platform to educate through hands-on design, fabrication and competition.

MISSION: To inspire an interest in Science, Engineering, and Technology by involving participants in the design, construction, testing and development of competitive electric vehicles.

Course Objectives:

        • To drive electrically powered vehicles as far as possible in one hour on a closed loop course with limited electrical energy.

        • To provide a forum where skill and ingenuity may be displayed, compared and tested.

        • To improve public awareness and understanding of efficient alternative electric vehicles and related technologies.

        • To create an affordable sport defined by established rules in which Schools, Individuals and CorporateTeams can participate competitively and safely.
